The trinket tree

It started out as an Easter project a few years ago.
I was going to make an Easter egg tree (a la a Christmas tree) to place on the sideboard in the dining room, a nice holiday decoration for the season. I was going to decorate it with various kinds of eggs hanging from the branches.
Well, best laid plans.
I never got around to finishing all the eggs. Easter came and went and so did my Easter tree.
BUT.
I decided to keep the tree I had made out of branches from the dogwood in front of the house. I set them in a clay pot filled with plaster of Paris and then covered the base with moss from the backyard.
I left the branches their natural color (I was going to spray paint them white) and the piece turned into a living 'arrangement' in the dining room.
I started placing little trinkets and mementos on it...the idea just grew and grew and there it still stands a few years later, a repository for idle little memories and remembrances.
At Christmastime now I add a few little ornaments that befit the season so it takes on a little bit of holiday tradition that time of year.
Who knows, someday maybe I'll get around to decorating all those Easter eggs and it will have a new look each Springtime.
Here it is followed by some close up pictures of just a few of the bits 'n bobs...
