Rear windows

Probably they biggest renovation I've done to the house was to push out the back wall of the downstairs bedroom an extra five feet. This created a much bigger master bedroom suite downstairs and enable me to reconfigure the master bath so that it was on-suite, it also allowed for a powder room off the living room; guests wouldn't have to traipse through my bedroom to get to the bathroom.
This changes the angle of the roofline in the back and I thought it created a better proportion for the upstairs dormer bathroom; I always felt that dormer was much too big the way it was situated on the roof (I found out it was added in the 1980s and was not original to the house). I also added a bank of windows at the back of the house which is the dining room. I love the '3 over 6 over 1' configuration, it lets in so much light to that room and the kitchen. Removing the back deck railing also opened up the vantage to the backyard, you don't feel as constricted when looking out to the yard and he plantings.
