The women's march of Sag Harbor

It was a day of protest all across the country. The resistance to the new presidential administration has begun in earnest and here in Sag Harbor was no exception. There was a small demonstration on Long Wharf. Here is a picture of grassroots American in action. I'm proud of my little town for taking a stance and pushing back on Hate.

Darkday

It's Inauguration day. A fittingly gray, gloomy sky.
Saw this post on Instagram of the Harbor, doesn't look like it was taken today but thought I'd try to concentrate on the blue skies of the future.

Texas Pecan Pie #2

Because I didn't get to eat much of the last pie I made with the pecans my folks sent me (I gave some to my friend Dean and then my friends Ron and David came by to visit with their friend Ken and they all had a piece), and because there were so many pecans in the package, I made another pie, and boy, is it good :)

Texas pecan pie

My parents sent me a huge box of fresh Texas pecans unshelled over the holiday, so naturally I had to make a pie out of them.
I found a really great recipe online that included vanilla and cinnamon, two flavors I had never tried before and they really made the difference, they gave it a nice depth.
And the good news? I only used a THIRD of the pecans...so I have enough for at least TWO MORE! YAY!!
